Monthly Videos for Online
Sales Training Program

Monthly Videos Thumbnail.jpg

These forty-two video interviews were created for an online sales training program for the Sales Force Development team at HUB International.

  • Responsibilities: Instructional Media Design, Project Management

  • Tools Used: Adobe Podcast, Adobe Premiere Pro, Recording Equipment, Vimeo, Zoom

  • Year: 2023-2024

Process

I collaborated with numerous internal experts and a program manager to create forty-two video interviews during my year of experience at HUB International. The videos were released monthly in Value Added Sales Training, an online sales training program available to over 2,000 adult learners.

Five videos were released each month. Four videos were part of the commercial lines and employee benefits channels. These video interviews provided the learner with the information needed to effectively communicate the value of HUB's resources. One video, split into two or three parts to keep the duration below twelve minutes, was part of the Legends channel. This video interview was from a salesperson from the top fifteen percent of HUB's sales force. The interview provided the learner insight on that individual's sales approach and various sales tactics like sourcing leads, winning big ticket accounts, and successfully prospecting up-market.

Note: I took over as instructional media designer for this project, so for the most part I had to maintain consistency with the established look of these videos.

Pre-Production

I used Microsoft Outlook and occasionally Calendly to schedule a 30 or 45 minute interview with each internal expert and the program manager.

Production

I conducted and/or recorded each interview in Zoom or occasionally in-person at HUB headquarters in Chicago. Most interviews were conducted via Zoom for convenience as HUB's employees are spread across the United States and Canada.

Post-Production

I edited each video in Adobe Premiere Pro, adding text on screen to highlight important points, and often used Adobe Podcast to quickly improve audio. The first draft was uploaded to Vimeo and sent to the program manager for review. After revision, the updated video was again uploaded to Vimeo and sent to the interviewee for their approval before publishing. Once I had the interviewee's approval, I uploaded the final video and a thumbnail to SharePoint. I then emailed the SharePoint link to the program manager and sales training coordinator and let them know the video was ready for dissemination.

Takeaways

This is my primary ongoing project in my position at HUB International and it has been an excellent opportunity to further master my project management skills. Creating these 5 videos each month requires planning, scheduling, time management, prioritization, and problem solving.
